DSJ Invitation Tournament Report

The Dublin School of judo decided to host their first ever tournament on Sunday, 21st June to celebrate the end of the 2008-09 judo season and also the formation of the newest Judo Ireland club in the Islamic Cultural Centre, Clonskeagh. Founded only 6 weeks ago the ICC Judo Club already has 4 Black Belt coaches and 40 junior members.

At their very first tournament, the ICC boys already won 2 gold medals with Zahaire Buisir taking the Under 7 year’s title and Zakaryia Massan winning at Under 9 years.

Cavan Judo Club did extremely well with Warren Reilly winning the Under 11 years title & Mantas Jugutis winning the Under 12’s with a narrow victory over Bearach Gleeson, Daigokan in the final.

Adam Kelly, Coolmine, deservedly took the ‘Player of the Day’ title scoring several beautiful ippons while winning the Under 14’s title.

Ryan Keogh St. Patrick’s Drumcondra was in superb form wining all 5 matches by Ippon to win the Under 8’s title. This was his first competition victory in only his second competition.

The Senior title went to Leon Tishenko, DSJ who held Luke Kelly, Coolmine for Ippon in the final with Kami Shiho Getame.

A special word of thanks must go to Patrick, Luke, Leon and Jessie who manned the table all day & to referee David Kane who presided very fairly over the entire competition.

Congratulations to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
