Philippine Judo Federation Report

Judo Ireland Coach, Alan Martin has spend much of the summer working with the Philippine Judo Federation National Squad in preparation for the upcoming South-East Asian Judo Championships which will take place in Vietnam at the end of September 2010.

Marian 1st time Champions!

Over 80 competitors, teachers, parents & coaches, travelled from 18 schools throughout Ireland to celebrate this year’s School’s Spring Judo Championships.
Marion College, Ballsbridge hosted the Dublin Spring Judo Championships which was celebrating its 10th anniversary. Rising to the occasion, the students & staff put on a terrific event, as well as putting forward their strongest ever team which proved the depth of talent among the students.

4. De-Ashi-Bari as counter to De-Ashi-Bari


Uke rises to his feet deliberately and at once takes hold of Tori Judogi. Tori takes a similar Hold of Uke. Tori advances his right leg a half step to the right natural posture. Uke attacks with De-Ashi-Bari with his left leg against Tori right leg 1. Tori dodges by stepping over Uke left foot with his right foot 2, and immediately, without replacing his foot on the ground, sweeps Uke left ankle with the sole of his right foot 3. Uke executes a kata lateral left fall. 4.

5. Tai-Otoshi as counter to Ko-Soto-Gake


Tori is in the right natural position, Uke attacks with Ko-Soto-Gake with his left leg against Tori right 1. Tori then pivots a half turn to his left and takes support on his left foot as shown in figures 2 and 3. At the same time he amplifies and deflects Uke frontal movement and ends by throwing Uke with the Tai-Otoshi to the right4.

6. Sasae-Tsuri-Komi-Ashi as counter to Ko-Uchi-Gari


Tori is in the right natural posture, Uke attacks with Ko-Uchi-Gari with his right foot against Tori right ankle 1. Tori reposes his entire balance on his left foot and takes advantage of Uke’s advance to towards his left to apply the Sasae-Tsuri-Komi-Ashi to Uke left leg 2
