The Galway Open 2008

The Galway Open Judo Championships 2008 went very well this year. Entries were up on previous years and the new clubs started up by Judo Ireland over the past 3 years were well in attendance.

Ennis Judo Club took a good haul of medals home. They showed a good fighting spirit and were a credit to their coach Taddius. Roscommon and Tuam Judo Clubs also were well represented in the medals. The Renmore Club in Galway could now be regarded as a more experienced club and have some good fighters to prove it.

The parents of these new clubs were also very helpful on the day. In any event it’s the work put in by the volunteers that can make the event successful or otherwise. Although a few mistakes were made by parents at the table, their enthusiasm and support ought to be welcomed.

Judo Ireland ran a junior and senior grading on Sunday March 9th. While numbers were low, the opportunity was presented.

Hopefully everyone can meet up again at the Cavan Open on March 29th.
