Philippine Judo Federation Report

Judo Ireland Coach, Alan Martin has spend much of the summer working with the Philippine Judo Federation National Squad in preparation for the upcoming South-East Asian Judo Championships which will take place in Vietnam at the end of September 2010.

Marian 1st time Champions!

Over 80 competitors, teachers, parents & coaches, travelled from 18 schools throughout Ireland to celebrate this year’s School’s Spring Judo Championships.
Marion College, Ballsbridge hosted the Dublin Spring Judo Championships which was celebrating its 10th anniversary. Rising to the occasion, the students & staff put on a terrific event, as well as putting forward their strongest ever team which proved the depth of talent among the students.

Annaghdown Presentation Disco

A fun event for Annaghdown Judo club members was held on Sunday 5th November in Regans of Clonboo. Medallists from the National Community Games and their coach Kevin Lally were presented with crystal-framed engraved team pictures as mementos of their achievements in Mosney. The presentation was made by Brendan Conway and Councillor Tom Reilly. A presentation was also made to honour the achievements of Special Olympics gymnastics medallist Paul Newell.

The Community Games medallists, who between them took home three gold medals and six silver medals from the National finals, were:
  • Edel Canavan
  • Lauren Kelly
  • Seán Forde
  • Cassandra Brophy
  • Aisling Kelly
  • Twins Eoghan and Joseph Kerrin
  • Francine Kyne
  • Hubert Creaven.
It was a very enjoyable night for children and family members with a disco and refreshments. Thank you to all who attended and to the organisers.
