Shinken Shobu Ryu Kata Course
Shinken Shobu Ryu Kata Course

The Shinken Shobu Ryu Kata Course took place on January 21st & 22nd 2006 in St Mark’s High School, Warrenpoint.
The instructor was Mick Leigh 8th Dan and covered Nage no Kata & Katame no Kata.
Mick Leigh once again gave a superb course in both Nage no Kata & Katame no Kata. With his wealth of experience & knowledge in the Kata forms, he made it easy for even the most inexperienced of Judoka to understand & follow. A total of 17 students took parting the weekend, ranging from beginners to Black belts.
Mick introduced the first 3 sets of the Nage no Kata in the first session, followed by the final two sets in the afternoon. He also began the Katame no kata, which many of the students had never seen before in the afternoon session.
In the final session on Sunday morning, Mick completed the Katame no Kata and gave the students time to examine & practice the finer features of both forms.
It was incredible to see the ease with which Mick, after a lifetime in Judo, still moves so fluidly around the mat & makes the most difficult of manoeuvres look so easy.
A special word of thanks must go to Martin & Frances Savage who put on a superb weekend, leaving no detail out, even down to providing full lunches on both days for all involved.
