Philippine Judo Federation Report

Judo Ireland Coach, Alan Martin has spend much of the summer working with the Philippine Judo Federation National Squad in preparation for the upcoming South-East Asian Judo Championships which will take place in Vietnam at the end of September 2010.

Marian 1st time Champions!

Over 80 competitors, teachers, parents & coaches, travelled from 18 schools throughout Ireland to celebrate this year’s School’s Spring Judo Championships.
Marion College, Ballsbridge hosted the Dublin Spring Judo Championships which was celebrating its 10th anniversary. Rising to the occasion, the students & staff put on a terrific event, as well as putting forward their strongest ever team which proved the depth of talent among the students.

Judo Ireland Annual General Meeting Report

A good representative number turned out for the 1st Annual General Meeting of Judo Ireland held recently in Athlone.

After the usual formalities the meeting got into the substantial development of the sport of Judo. What was very noticeable in the accounts was the total absence of overheads such as meeting costs, postage, etc.

Judo Ireland are very grateful to our treasurer Eamonn Ward for his support.

Judo Ireland have now a new junior and senior grading syllabus ,a new coaching structure, a Regional High Performance system that enables our top coaches to travel around Ireland. In this way all our players will get the benefits. Judo Ireland are continuing to work with other NGBs for the betterment of all. The new syllabus is available on a cd and will be sent to all Judo Ireland clubs.

Judo Ireland now have 35 affiliated member clubs representing 640 persons,1 fully professional coach and 4 semi- professional coaches.

Judo Ireland over the past 12 months have secured sponsorship of 2 full sized mats from MacL Solutions and the Irish Black Belt Association.

The meeting agreed that Judo Ireland should from its funds buy a further 2 full sized mats for our new clubs.

A further 20% of our annual income was to be set aside for our long term development plans.

A number of requests have come in from other sports seeking Technical assistance from our coaching staff.

The meeting ended with light refreshments.
