High Performance Training
Guest Coach Amy Newman, Renmore Gymnastics Club took the first session of the High Performance Class concentrating on stretching & co-ordination exercises.

The main emphasis of the class was back control, stressing that a strong flat back is very important to most advanced movements. Improving this in the handstand is essential in order to progress onto more difficult moves.
Amy followed on with re-bound linking fast & controlled movements and finished with some conditioning.
The 2nd session was taken by former World & European semi-finalist Alonzo Henderson 4th Dan, and former Sambo Wrestling World Bronze medallist, Valery Vaniukevich, 2nd Dan, assisted by Kevin Lally 2nd Dan & James Connolly, 1st Dan.

The main emphasis of this session was the enjoyment of Judo, making it a fun sport. Alonzo worked on balance, foot sweeps & Ippon Seoinage, while Valery concentrated on attack entries.
Over 50 judo players from the west of Ireland took part in this fantastic day’s judo & all left feeling very happy with their new found knowledge.
