P.E. Teacher’s Introductory Judo Courses – Graduation Report

Judo Ireland, in association with the Embassy of Japan of Ireland, completed our 1st 12-week Beginners Judo Course, aimed at Qualified P.E. Teachers on Tuesday, 13th December 2011 in St. Joseph’s CBS, Fairview, Dublin 3.

Mr Yasuhiro Yamauchi, Cultural Attaché, Embassy of Japan ,
Mr. Gerry Doyle, Chairman, Judo Ireland and Ms. Marie Cloonan, National Executive, PEAI, watched on as the students display some of the techniques they learned during the course, before presenting them with their certificates.

Special Guests Martin Savage & Paul Brady came down from Warrenpoint, Co. Down to give a fantastic display of control & technique in their demonstration of the kata.

Mohamed Menoura Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland
Brendan Lillis Largy College, Clones, Co. Monaghan

Course leader, Alan Martin, 3rd Dan Black Belt, assisted by David Kane, 1st Dan & Jessie Ho, 1st Dan, were in attendance, together with guest coach, Norman Caprani, 2nd Dan.

Joeys Principal, Mr Pádraig Ó Fainín provided a hot buffet & refreshments for our newly Qualified P.E. Teachers and guests.

All participants will get support in organising judo within their school’s P.E. programmes in the coming months.

Judo Ireland are now planning for a second course for September 2012.
